The CheeseMay on the Simpsons Scare

If you've been following the news recently, you might have heard that The Simpsons aired an episode titled "Bart’s Birthday," which started with the chilling message, "The Simpsons Series Finale." As an avid fan, my heart sank when I saw this. However, by the end of the episode, it became clear that they plan to make more episodes—at least, that's what I thought. USA Today later confirmed that The Simpsons will continue airing. And sure enough, on Sunday, October 6th, they aired the next episode, which you can catch on Hulu if you have a subscription.

As fans of The Simpsons, we’ve all grown attached to the characters over the years. Whether you see a bit of yourself in them or they simply feel like old friends, the idea of saying goodbye someday is bittersweet.

The hilarious Homer Simpson: My favorite character. While I don’t necessarily relate to him, Homer is the heart of the show’s comedy, and his antics always leave me laughing.

The calm Marge Simpson: The show wouldn’t be the same without Marge. She’s the glue that holds the family together. Marge is also relatable, balancing a relationship where she's often sidelined by Homer’s hobbies but still stands by him out of love.

The mischievous Bart Simpson: I can relate to Bart. He’s that kid who craves popularity, pulls pranks to get attention, and despite his struggles at school, shows brilliance in mischief. He’s a genius in his own way.

The smart Lisa Simpson: Lisa is another relatable character. As the brainy middle child, she’s constantly striving for perfection and recognition, even as she's often overlooked.

The baby Maggie Simpson: Lovable Maggie, who somehow manages to get away with everything—even murder (literally!).

Then there are countless other characters outside the Simpson family that we connect with.

We all know the series has to end at some point, right? It’s going to be a sad day when it happens, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about for a while: how will they wrap up one of the greatest shows ever made? As we enter the 36th season of The Simpsons, I’m curious about how they’ll eventually conclude it. Will they bring back some of our favorite characters? Will they show us the Simpsons years from now? Perhaps the series finale will deliver The Simpsons' biggest prediction yet. Who knows?

One of the things I think might happen is that the series could end on FOX and move to Disney+. There are rumors that FOX might not renew The Simpsons contract, which could be part of an agreement with Disney. If that happens, what does it mean for fans? I’m not sure, but my guess is that the show could evolve into something like a Disney+ series with 10 episodes per season, or possibly even its own Disney channel. On the downside, that could mean fewer episodes per year, or requiring a Disney+ subscription to watch. For those of us who looked forward to Animation Domination on Sunday nights, that could be a big loss—no more free-to-watch Simpsons on basic TV.

Another reason I came to this conclusion is the rumor that The Simpsons Land might leave Universal Studios by 2028. As a die-hard fan, I love visiting Simpsons Land, even if the ride isn’t the greatest. It’s the experience of immersing myself in the world of The Simpsons, getting pictures with the family, visiting Moe’s Tavern, and indulging in a Lard Lad donut that makes it special. Losing that would be disappointing for many fans like me. I also can’t picture a Simpsons Land at Disney parks—although I must admit, I do enjoy Star Wars Land and Disney parks, despite their high costs. If Disney were to create an Animation Nation part of the park, I’d probably enjoy it, but I’m not holding my breath for that.

In conclusion, I say: watch The Simpsons while you can, and keep an ear out for rumors. Even if they’re just rumors now, they might become reality in the future. We’ll try to keep people informed as we learn more. But for now, enjoy the show while it’s still on national TV. And if Disney takes over The Simpsons, who knows? Maybe they’ll do something great with it, though it might be wishful thinking on my part.
